It is with great sadness that we have learnt of the death of Ensign, Lt Col Sir Malcolm Ross GCVO OBE GCStJ DL. Sir Malcolm had been an Archer since 1981. Educated at Eton and Sandhurst, he was commissioned into the Scots Guards in 1964 in which regiment he served until 1987. Sir Malcolm joined the Royal Household in 1987 as Assistant Comptroller of the Lord Chamberlain’s Office and Management Auditor. He served as Comptroller of the Lord Chamberlain’s Office from 1991 to 2005 and then Master of the Household to HRH The Prince of Wales from 2006 to 2008. Knighted as a KCVO in 1999, Sir Malcolm was advanced to GCVO in 2005. Sir Malcolm was appointed Lord Lieutenant of the Stewartry of Kirkcudbright in 2006 in which role he served until 2018. His final appointment was as the Lord Prior of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of Saint John of Jerusalem. Our thoughts and prayers are with Lady Ross and their three children.
